Florida Old Time Modified Series
Rules
GENERAL RULES
The objective of the Florida Old Time Modified
Series is to preserve the history of stock car racing as it began in the late
40's and 50's. We run these cars for fun, but the promoter will not invite
us back unless we have as many cars as possible and "play the game" (put on a
good show and not have one car run away from the pack). If you have any
questions regarding these rules, please contact Jamie Frankland at
(813)-634-9556

COMMENTS
These cars are old style vintage cars and need to
look like the cars that ran from the 40's up through the mid 60's. We need to
keep that in mind. Computer Graphics and lettering look very much out of place
on these cars. Old style painted on numbers and sponsor lettering looks much
better. In building these cars, keep in
mind that we need and want them to be safe. But, if any modern parts are used
for the sake of safety it is better to try to hide them if possible. For
instance, aluminum radiators cool better and are less expensive than having a
new core put in a 1940's radiator. Using an aluminum radiator you are less
likely to have one explode and burn someone, but in the same instance, a little
black paint makes it look a lot more vintage.
There is no way to cover every little item in
building one of these cars in a set of rules. If you run into something that is
not covered, call and ask. We will come up with an answer and it will be added
to the rules. (DO NOT start building a car on what you believe to be a loophole
in the rules.) Florida Old Time Modified Series reserves the right to approve or
not approve any car at any time.
